摘要

Surface elevation surveys have been made at Strategic Petroleum Reserve oil storage sites at approximate one-year intervals beginning in 1982. The surveys have indicated significant surface subsidence rates at all sites, with maximum values varying from about /-/0.06 ft/yr at the Bryan Mound site to /-/0.03 ft/yr at the West Hackberry site. Thirty-year projections of the indicated subsidence rates suggest that surface subsidence could lead to surface flooding problems at the West Hackberry site and to a lesser degree at the Bayou Choctaw site. No such flooding problems are foreseen for the other three sites. However, subsidence rates at the Weeks Island site up to -0.19 ft/yr are large enough to cause concern regarding possible salt fractures in the vicinity of shafts, which could in turn lead to water incursion into the mine. 9 refs., 5 figs., 2 tabs.
