A study of the sensitivity of the width of the H-mode transport barrier on the energy, particle and momentum sources has led to a possible explanation for the very high confinement (VH-mode) presented in Part A of this paper. In Part B recent progress in the development of Gyro-Landau Fluid (GLF) models n described. GLF models with a few moment equations encompass with high accuracy both linearly and nonlinearly the effects of finite gyroradius to all orders and of the Landau resonances in both parallel field and curvature drift motion. Numerical simulation of turbulence with a novel application of a nonlinear ballooning mode representation of these models is given.
