Relation of Masked Threshold to Signal-Duration for Various Interaural Phase-Combinations.

In the experiments cited, signals were presented binaurally with no interaural phase-difference. The masker consisted of correlated noise and was also in phase at the two ears. Several investigators have reported marked lowering of the masked threshold when either the signal or the masker is reversed in phase at one ear. The present series of experiments was undertaken to extend work on the effect of duration to shorter values and to a variety of interaural combinations.
