COMPARATIVE STRESS ANALYSIS FOR LARGE DYNAMIC ACCELERATORS Summary Engineering Report Phase Ⅰ: Feasibility Studies of a Flywheel Accelerator

摘要

This purpose of this study is to establish the feasibility of a flywheel accelerator for testing man-machine systems under conditions of space flight. This flywheel must be capable of accelerating a 232, 500-1b test package to 300g in five seconds.nThe static analysis of stresses and displacements of a flywheel have been solved and some of the problems connected with latching-on a capsule have been studied. Also, such areas as power requirements, bearings, and capsule support have been discussed.
