摘要

An investigation of Ti in sulfuric acid and HC1 solns. was carried out at a.c. frequencies of 20-2000 cycles/sec. in 10N sulfuric acid and 20-1000 cycles/sec. in 10N HC1 solns. By superimposing an a.c. the anodic dissoln. of Ti is intensified, and this phenomenon is accelerated by higher frequencies. For the return of the Ti from the active to the passive condition in 10N sulfuric acid it is necessary to pass the current at the rate of 0.48 x 10 (to the minus 3rd power) coulomb/cm (to the 2nd power) of metal surface which converted into no. of 0 atoms corresponds to 1 monoat. layer. This also indicates that a corresponding quantity of 0 was present on the Ti surface. The Ti dissoln. rate in 10N HC1 under the action of a.c. of all frequencies was considerably higher than in sulfuric acid of equal concn. This indicates that C1 is the activating agent.
