Numerical solutions to the full viscous shock layer equations are presented for hypersonic flow past a paraboloid. Solutions were obtained using an implicit finite difference scheme coupled with an iterative relaxation process for determining the bow shock shape. Account is taken of the usually ignored convective terms in the normal momentum equation. The numerical solutions are compared with experimental data at M = 10and 18for free stream Reynolds numbers,Re from 44to 12700. These comparisons are used as a basis for assessing the influence on the predicted results of the gas model (perfect gas or binary mixture),the slip conditions. Evidence is found that the gas model has little influence on the results,the two slip models studied expressed minor differences in the results,and that the values of the slip constants cause significant changes for cold wall conditions only in the stagnation region surface properties.
