Separation and Carriage Loads Characteristics of Three Guided Bombs from the A-7D Aircraft at Mach Numbers from 0.70to 1.05.

Wind tunnel tests were conducted in the Aerodynamic Wind Tunnel (4T) to investigate the separation characteristics of the Improved MK-82LGB and MK-84LGB from the wing pylons and racks of the A-7D aircraft. Carriage loads data were also acquired on the MK-82LGB and the MK-84EOGB. Trajectory data were obtained at Mach numbers from 0.78to 0.95at a simulated altitude of 7000ft. Simulated dive angles were 0and 70deg during this phase of the test. With one exception,all stores separated without store-to-aircraft contact. Store-to-store contact occurred when the MK-82LGB was launched from a fully loaded TER. Carriage loads data were taken over a Mach number range from 0.70to 1.05at angles of attack from -2to 12deg and yaw angles from -2to 2deg. (Author)
