A Breadboard Model Used to Demonstrate the Feasibility of Recording National Airspace System Enroute Display Data.

A feasibility investigation was made of various techniques for providing the capability of re-creating or replaying on demand air traffic histories for operational or incident analysis. To demonstrate feasibility, the best technique was selected and a single-thread breadboard model designed and fabricated. It was concluded that the single-channel breadboard model, employing the digital recording technique and utilizing the Display Control Vector Generator input area as the data recording point, adequately demonstrated the feasibility of recording, storing, and reproducing NAS en route air traffic control display data. Based upon this successful demonstration, it was recommanded that a full-scale multiple-channel engineering model be designed, fabricated, and evaluated. (Author)
