The purpose of the Validation Summary Report (VSR) is to identify individual COBOL language elements whose implementation does not conform to American National Standard Programming Language COBOL, X3.23-1974,and to Federal Standard COBOL as adopted from the American National Standard by Federal Information Processing Standard 21-1 (FIPS PUB 21-1). The Validation Summary Report is prepared by analyzing the results of running the COBOL Compiler Validation System (CCVS). The COBOL Compiler Validation System consists of audit routines containing features of Federal Standard COBOL,their related data,and an executive routine (VP-routine) which prepares the audit routines for compilation. Each audit routine is a COBOL program which includes many tests and supporting procedures indicating the result of the tests.
