摘要

A rotating heat pipe was tested using five different copper condensers (a smooth cylinder, a spiral Noranda tube, two Hitachi tubes and a Turbotec tube) and three different working fluids (distilled water, ethanol and Freon 113). All condensers were tested with filmwise condensation at rotational speeds of 700, 1400, 2800 RPM. The heat transfer rate of each run was measured and plotted against the temperature difference between the vapor and the cooling water inlet. The main objective was to compare the different condenser configurations and working fluids with respect to the heat transfer achieved. The best heat transfer performance was achieved by using the spiral Noranda tube and distilled water as working fluid. With this tube rotating at 2800 RPM the heat pipe was capable of transferring 6.5 KW at a vapor temperature of 90 C. The maximum increase in performance of 300% over the smooth cylinder occurred when using the Turbotec tube and Freon 113 as working fluid. (Author)
