Development of Plastic Thermite

A plastic thermite has been developed at MRL which can be readily ignited by an electrically-actuated igniter or by safety blasting fuse such as plastic initiating cord (PIC). The plastic thermite is a powerful incendiary device, capable of igniting oil and a wide range of materials. Plastic thermite is made with a water-repellant resin and can be stored under water. It can also be ignited when under oil or water. This material is non-explosive and is completely safe to handle.
