An assessment is made of our current supply of lethal and incapacitating chemical ammunition (chemical special ammunition) in a theater of operations. The study considers the current organizations which are tasked with the storage of chemical special ammunition outside of CONUS. It reviews their current capability as constrained by logistical support to a theater. The findings are based upon extensive research of literature, review of previous chemical logistical studies and interviews with knowledgeable personnel. From analysis of all factors, it is concluded that the Army has a void in service doctrine concerning the management of chemical special munitions within a theater. The study recommendations should be used to improve the shortfalls identified in the logistical system for chemical special ammunition management within theater of operations. (Author)
