The primary focus of the personal computer task area is the development of an electronic message system called Diamond, which will run in a distributed personal computer environment. The message system will: Support a user interface that exploits the capabilities of advanced single-user computers, handle message that contain data other than text, have a distributed architecture, operate in a secure fashion, permit use from a variety of user access points and have a transportable implementation.
