The US Army Research Laboratory (ARL) is investigating localization technologies for GPS-denied environments. One such technology is RF angle of arrival (AoA). Previous research at ARL demonstrated the feasibility of RF AoA for swarm localization using continuous wave signals. This report applies this research to modulated signals, allowing for data communications as well as AoA measurement. Two modulation schemes are examined for their suitability for AoA measurement, culminating in a laboratory experiment successfully demonstrating AoA measurement with modulated signals.
