EPA Improved Its National Security Information Program, but Some Improvements Still Needed

As required by Section6(b)(2)(B) of the 'ReducingOver-Classification Act', wereviewed actions taken by theU.S. Environmental ProtectionAgency (EPA) to implementprevious recommendations toimprove policies andprocedures related to theclassification of nationalsecurity information (NSI).Executive Order 13526,'Classified National SecurityInformation', prescribes auniform system for classifying,safeguarding and declassifyingNSI. The unauthorizeddisclosure of the informationcould result in damage to thenational security. The EPA'sOffice of Administration andResources Managementmanages the agency's NSIprogram.
