Extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) is an effective treatment of leukemic cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (L-CTCL), but its mechanism(s) of action remain unclear. Using flow cytometry, Shiue LH et al, determined the frequency of T-cell subsets in the peripheral blood of patients with L-CTCL (Sezary syndrome) before and after treatment with extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP; with or without additional immunomodula-tory treatments) and compared responders with non-responders.
