Field investigations were conducted to assess the efficacies of moult disruptors viz., Flufenoxuron (100 g.a.i.ha~(-1)), Diflubenzuron (100 g.a.i.ha~(-1)), Teflubenzuron (100 g.a.i.ha~(-1)) and Novaluron (0.01%) both alone and in combination with chlorpyriphos (0.05%) on the major insect pests of groundnut i.e., tobacco caterpillar, Spodoptera litura Fab. and american bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera Hub. during rabi season for two years (2006-07 & 2007-08) at two different locations revealed that Novaluron alone and in combination with chlorpyriphos was found to be significantly superior over others in all the parameters observed i.e., larval mortalities of the defoliators & foliar damage reduction of both the lepidopteran insect pests. Among the other moult inhibitors tested, flufenoxuron was moderately efficacious than diflubenzuron both alone and in combination with chlorpyriphos. Teflubenzuron was proved to be least effective on the insect pests of rabi groundnut both alone and in combination with chlorpyriphos. The toxicity of Novaluron when used in combination with chlorpyriphos persisted up to 10 days after sprays. In realizing higher pod yields also, Novaluron in combination with chlorpyriphos was adjudged to be significantly higher than the other treatments.
