Does green energy need a reality check?

We are all familiar with the reputation problems faced by the hydrocarbon energy industry.At no time was this better demonstrated than in the fuel tax protests of 2000.The UK almost came to a halt.Without fuel there is no power,no transport,no public services and no economy.These few days in 2000 demonstrate the reputation trap.The energy industry had gone along with taxes that were supposedly promoting fuel efficiency but then became vilified because it could not cope with the supply disruption caused by the protests against the tax.
