摘要

Total UK demand for petroleum products stood at 61mn tonnes in 2012, according to a review of the refining and fuel distribution sectors by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). By 2030, improved fuel efficiency will see that figure fall to around 50mn tonnes. According to that prediction, the UK market will still need the output of six medium-sized refineries, but the pattern of demand and the fact that domestic refining often finds itself in an uncompetitive position on the world market means there will be a reliance on imports.
