The European Union (EU) recently suspended the adoption of proposed carbon emission levies for flights taking off and landing in EU member states. Lack of support by non-EU airline carriers (including North American, Asian and African) for the proposed EU carbon emissions levies, led the EU to delay implementation of regulation on airline carbon emissions, according to Mauzima Bhamji, Senior Associate at law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse.
