Noble and partners advance toward Israeli gas exports

US upstream independent Noble Energy is moving closer to opening up the east-ern Mediterranean as a natural gas export province,clearing regulatory hurdles and ironing out terms with Australia’s Wood-side Petroleum as a development partner. Woodside and existing stakeholders in the massive Leviathan gas field off the coast of Israel this month agreed prelimi-nary terms on Woodside’s purchase of a 25pc interest in the project for as much as $2.55bn.The companies aim to complete the agreement by 27 March and make a final investment decision on Leviathan this year.Woodside plans to become operator of the LNG development,while Noble will remain upstream operator and hold the largest ownership stake,at 30pc.
