BG and Statoil discuss Tanzania LNG

UK firm BG and Norway’s state-con- trolled Statoil have begun discussions on potential collaboration on a future LNG export project in Tanzania. The two firms are looking at an initial two- train 10mn t/yr LNG production plant. BG operates blocks 1, 3 and 4 offshore Tanzania, while Statoil operates block 2. Statoil has awarded US engineering firm KBR a contract to perform early engineering and design studies for the facility, KBR said on 3 October.
