IT REALLY WAS A beautiful table. The finest woods. An interesting inlay pattern. Built to exacting specifications by skilled craftsmen. Room for 15 people down each side, and another one on each end. It could well have qualified for the Table Hall of Fame, if such an honor existed. But over the course of 13 years, Ed Catmull, co-founder and president of Pixar Animation, came to hate mat table-which sat in one of his company's conference rooms .
