Change of name

A new genus of the family Sphyriidae (Copepoda: Siphonostomatoidea), described by Diebakate, Raibaut & Kabata [Systematic Parasitology, 38, 231-235 (1997)], was given the name Thamnocephalus, with the type-species T. cerebrinoxius. The generic nameused is pre-occupied by Thamnocephalus Packard, 1877, and, in consequence, the new genus is a junior homonym. In accordance with Article 60(a) of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, the authors propose to replace it with a nomen novum, Driocephalus nom. nov. The full name of the copepod described in 1997 becomes, therefore, Driocephalus cerebrinoxius comb. nov.
