Thriving enrollment at ag schools shows strong student interest. While the slumbering general economy offers slim pickings for job hunters in some places, those seeking work in ag-related fields find opportunities left and right. As a result, agricultural colleges see enrollments boom as more and more students look to careers spinning off farming, ranching, and natural resources. At Kansas State University (KSU), for instance, enrollment in the school's agricultural college has grown 20% over the last three years. "We're almost equal to the enrollment we had in the 1970s, which was formerly the heyday of enrollments," says Don Boggs, associate dean of academic programs, KSU college of agriculture.
