Climate Change & Agriculture: A few basic facts

Experiencing the last cold spell most farmers would question scientists views on climate change as they were strugglingwith adverse weather conditions and freezing temperatures - more like the big freeze than the planet warming up they would answer! However, the accepted science is that Climate Change is very real and is here to stay and will affect everyone around the world in one way or another. Whether one is sceptical of the science or fully signed up to the theory there is no doubt that actions are being taken by governments because of climate change concerns. As a sheep farming industry it would be foolhardy to ignore the debate because the sheep is being put forward as a culprit in terms of its natural emissions. This is already leading to debates on reducing numbers and thereby changing the very fabric of the sheep industry and rural areas.
