ACROSS A SERIES OF CONFERENCES THIS AUTUMN, UKWA'S CEO PETER WARD HAS BEEN BRIEFING THE RETAIL SECTOR ON HOW THE LOGISTICS SECTOR IS THE OMNI-CHANNEL ENGINE THAT GIVES EXCELLENT FULFILMENT PERFORMANCE. If omni-channel is retail's bright and shiny new car, then logistics is the engine that keeps it running. Like a thoroughbred's highly-tuned power source, it needs to be able to accelerate reliably from cruise control to full revs in order to tackle peaks such as Black Friday - aptly described as a monster by John Lewis' John Munnelly at recent UKWA events, such as IFWLA conference in Liverpool June and recently at the Golden Triangle debate held as part of the Leicester Business Festival. UKWA also took a central role in a series of eCommerce and omni-channel themed conferences during the autumn to brief the retail logistics sector on how UKWA and its members are firing on all cylinders to provide maximum fulfilment performance.
