SYSTEM TURNS PET BOTTLES INTO CLEAN FLAKES

Retech Recycling Technology AB has developed a new PET bottle recycling system that can transform 1,100 pounds (500 kg) an hour of dirty PET containers into clean flakes, the company says.In the PET 500 system-which is marketed under the trademark of System-Redoma - loose or baled PET bottles are dumped into a loading bin. When full, this bin discharges the bottles into a storage bin that's specially designed to break bales and move the bottles forward slowly onto a conveyor. At this stage, workers do some hand-sorting to remove undesirable items such as glass, loose metal, and other plastics.
