Actions do speak louder than words--and ISRI has always talked the talk and walked the walk in promoting safety in the scrap indus-try. Even so, last year the association resolved to take its safety efforts even higher. The main reason was a human one--we simply want every recycling worker to go home healthy. ISRI also saw the clear need to help the industry address its recent insurance losses due to accidents and safety-related issues. True to our word, we launched an aggressive new safety program in February with innovative safety posters that remind employees of the importance of safety on the job, on the road, and in the home (see sample above). The four posters in this new series are being sent throughout the year free to ISRI members as a membership benefit.
