China is unlikely to lift export barriers on metallurgical coke at the end of 2012 as has been widely anticipated by the industry, executives at two of China and India's largest independent coke producers told Platts Steel Business Briefing on the sidelines of the Coaltrans Australia conference. This is despite the fact that Chinese officials were said in July to have disclosed the government's intent to work out a new policy in compliance with the World Trade Organization's requirements.
