What is the optimum planting density and tree form for intensive apple orchard plantings? In late January/early February, I spent a week in the company of Professor Terence Robinson from Cornell University in New York State, USA. We discussed a wide range of topics including optimum planting densities, which incidentally was the one of the topics of a paper Terence gave at the IFTA (International Fruit Tree Association) conference in Hobart in early February.
