摘要

A novel type of octagonal dual-core PCF with an ellipse-shaped airhole around the fiber core was proposed in this study. The effects of structural parameters on coupling length were analyzed by using full-vector FEM. Based on the birefringence effect, a 314 pm-long polarization beam splitter based on the proposed dual-core PCF was obtained. Numerical simulations demonstrated that the polarized light extinction ratio was -50.2 dB at wavelength of 1.55 mu m, and the bandwidth was over 170 nm when the extinction ratio was lower than 10 dB, which exhibited high performance of splitting one light into two orthogonal polarization states.
