During the most frigid week in january,the british colulmbia supreme court handed down a decision that sent a chill through relations between B.C.'s first nations and the petroleum industry.At issue was whether development should be allowed on a small piece of land that two native communities consider worth preserving intact.beneaath the land,which is home to moose,deer,owls,martin and other boreal forest animals,lies a potentially substanatial reservoir of natural gas.
