Germany Looks at Nuke Costs

German utilities E.On and Vattenfall Europe plan to evaluate the cost of getting the beleaguered Krummel and Brunsbuttel nuclear power stations back into operation and fit to operate for another couple of decades. Joint studies will be carried out over the coming months to assess "the technical situation and operating processes at the two facilities, and calculate the investments necessary to overhaul and update them," the utilities said in a joint statement issued Wednesday.
