Australia has launched a new gas strategy to increase liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports fourfold during the next 10 years,to push it into the ranks of the top five LNG exporters in the world and transform the country into a gas-fueled economy.Federal,state and territory governments have joined with the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA) to develop this strategy.Australia currently occupies the No.11 spot in global rankings,with LNG exports forecast to reach around 13 million metric tonnes a year in 2005-06.
