Detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus subtype H5N1 in cats and big cats in Thailand. Samples from Khao Kheow Open Zoo, Bang-Pra subdistrict, Si Racha district, Chon Buri province, were submitted by a zoo veterinarian on 2 February 2004. The samples had been collected from a white tiger and a clouded leopard Both animals showed clinical signs of respiratory infection. The white tiger fully recovered but the clouded leopard died. The affected animals had been fed with raw chicken.
