Great Eastern Shipping Company subsidiary, Greatship Global Energy Services, has acquired 350ft jackup Greatdrill Chetna from Mercator Offshore and took delivery of the unit from the former owner. The KFELS Mod B rig was completed in 2009 and has a 15K BOP. It has been on bareboat charter to Greatship since delivery and is contracted to ONGC until around March 2012. With the acquisition, Greatship now owns and operates two jackups, including Greatdrill Chitra. It has also ordered a LeTourneau Super 116E (Enhanced) Class jackup from Lamprell Shipyard in the UAE, which is due for delivery in fourth quarter 2012.
