Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced that the Russian company Tatneft struck oil in Area 82 in the Ghadames basin, about 500 kilometers south of Tripoli, with the Al-82/01 well. The national oil company pointed out that this was Tatneft's third discovery and the first to have been made on Block 1 of Area 82. Tatneft operates the tract under the terms of an exploration and production-sharing contract signed with NOC.
