At the turn of the twentieth century, the Porcupine Camp became home to dozens of prospectors exploring the areas around the Frederick House River and Porcupine Lake, each one arriving with aspirations of finding gold and fortune. However, this didn't happen until 1909 when Jack Wilson, a member of the Harry Preston crew, discovered what would eventually become the Dome Mine (1910-present). On the heels of the Dome Mine find came Benny Hollinger and Alex Gillies' discovery of the Hollinger Mine (1910-1968). A year later, Alexander Olifant (a.k.a. Sandy Mclntyre) would discover the Mclntyre Mine (1912-1988) completing the run of significant gold discoveries in the Porcupine Camp.
