A field without boundaries

The word 'unique' is often overused, but in the context of the New Art Centre, it is not an exaggeration to claim that the exhibiting opportunities it offers are unique. Set in the rolling Wiltshire countryside, the sculpture park stretches out around a 19th-century property. The house - Roche Court - is linked to an orangery by an elegant, linear, glass-fronted gallery and there is an artists' house at the rear which, like the gallery, is a contemporary addition. Material Language: New Work in Clay was displayed across these spaces, which range from the intimate and domestic, to the grand and infinite. The range of display environments gave emphasis to - and facilitated - the exhibition's message: contemporary work in clay is unbounded and driven by ideas.
