It was in the mid-1960s that I began making pots and became thoroughly carried away with the whole concept of what pottery could mean, its history, and the study of civilisations. At the same time I started a collection of pottery that could explore some of these ideas, and by now, I have thousands of pots, large and small, from different eras and from many countries. My first intent with the collection was to support potters and their galleries to prove that there was a vocation to be had in making pots, pots that were genuine examples of the potter's art and intent, and also from potters that I liked, liking both them and their work.
