Tales from West Timor

MOST PEOPLE APJE FAMILIAR with East Timor or Timor Leste because of the changes taking place and the struggles of a fledgling country to survive. The other half of the island, West Timor, is still part of Indonesia but has struggles of its own to survive. In the first three months of this year (2008) I travelled to West Timor. It is only a short flight from Darwin to Kupang the capital of the province - approximately 1 hour 45 minutes in a small turbo prop plane.
