If one studies the results of 25 years of experimental research in forestry genetics carried out on genetic markers, the genetic variation of the numerous species is the almost identical common experience. Not all varieties of woodu plants showed manyvariations, or even any at all, during investigations. They include some endemics, such as Eucalyptus caesia (Moran and Hopper, 1983). There are also some frequently cultivated tree species with a by no means small natural range which belong to this category, such as Acacia mangium (Moran et al., 1989), although all the other species of the genus Acacia investigated so far certainly show genetic variation (Moran, 1992) and provenances of Acacia mangium itself considerable differences in growth (Harwood and Williams, 1991).
