Composting is the controlled decomposition of organic matter resulting in stabilized and sanitized organic matter that can be used as soil conditioner in agriculture.There exist multiple composting methods,varying from the small,home-made reactors used by individual households,to the relatively simple,on-site reactors used by farmers,to the large,simple to complex reactors used by professional composters to which the biowaste has to be transported.If organic matter is targeted for agricultural use,the major reason for composting is sanitation(i.e.the inactivation of pathogens)of the material.
