The long, leggy maned wolf is one of nature's enduring mysteries. For a month, Tui De Roy stalked the Brazilian cerrado to learn its secrets. Our first sight of Clara was magical. On a cool and breezy morning, we scanned Brazil's central highlands through binoculars without much hope. Then my partner Mark spotted her - far up the valley, almost a mile away. Her cinnamon coat seemed to glow on the grassy slope. We hurried up to theridge top, then walked over the brow into the valley, where we found her stalking a mouse in a dell.
