The trend toward micromilling parts instead of risking the high cost of a micro-mold for prototype parts is growing, according to Andy Phillip, president of Microlution Inc., a Chicago builder of micro-machine tools. The parts produced by these micromilling machines are no larger than a 2.5" (63.5-mm) cube and are used in a variety of industries, including aerospace and biomedical.
