The Queen Alexandra Hospital's.Portsmouth)Biochemistry team are having to cope with relentless increases in workload.Over the past three years test requests have been increasing by around 10% per year,with the laboratory's annual workload approaching the 5 million mark.The bottleneck,which previously occurred at the point of loading the analysers,has disappeared with having to recruit any additional staff;thanks to the implementation of Bayer Diagnostics'ADVIA WorkCell laboratory automation system.
