摘要

Machining of electrodeposited pure nickel coatings can result in high rates of tool wear, as a result of work-hardening. For this reason, a number of machining tools made of hard metal were coated with TiN, Ti(C,N), Ti(B,N), (Ti,Al)N and diamond.Their performance was assessed on the basis of coefficient of friction and wear mechanisms taking place. The best results were obtained from TiN and (TiAl)N coatings with use of cooling oils also recommended.
