John Stanley promotes the idea of selling indoor plants as a fashion item. If there is one plant category that many retailers are finding difficult to develop, it is the indoor plant category. This category used to take up a large proportion of the indoor retail space, but over the years has been shrunk in many businesses. Firstly, the emphasis has been on the outdoor living room and the huge growth in outdoor entertainment and the patio market. The result is that plant sales have grown for the outdoor living room at the expense of the indoor living room.
