摘要

Aqueous two-phase polymerization of acrylamidehas been carried out in an aqueous solution ofpoly(ethylene glycol) initiated by ammonium persulfate.The chemical composition of the product was characterizedby FTIR, and the droplet size distribution in the initialstage of the polymerization was followed by dynamiclight scattering. On the basis of the evolution of polyacrylamideaqueous droplets size distribution and morphologyat every stage, a new mechanism of dropletformation was proposed. The experimental phenomenonthat the small droplets always existed in the process ofpolymerization and some irregular shape droplets wereformed in the product of aqueous two phase polymerizationcould be successfully explained by the new mechanism.
